I hold a position of a research associate at Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. I earned a Ph. D. in Higher Education, School of Education, Indiana University. I taught at both elementary and secondary schools in Sudan and United States. My area of interest is social and justice issues, and my recent work is in gender and conflict in Africa. My book, Making Peace & Nurturing Life : A Memoir of an African Woman About a Journey of Struggle and Hope, was published in 2003. I was born in Akot, a small town 30 miles east of Rumbek town in Lake Region, South Sudan. I came to the United States as a refugee where I founded the South Sudan Friends International (SSFI), an advocacy and technical assistance organization that supports grassroots communities in self-help and reconciliation projects. I am a mother of five, three boys and two girls and now a resident of the United States. I speak Dinka, Nuer, Arabic and English.

SSFI's mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ with the people of southern Sudan  in a way that leads  them towards peaceful and self-reliant living from the grassroots level, so that available resources will meet the needs of their communities.
