Dinka-Nuer Washington Declaration,
ORCD Materials, and
Macalester College Symposium

Dear Friends of Southern Sudan,

"We are now one people." These deeply moving words are part of the declaration made by seventy-seven participants at the Dinka-Nuer Reconciliation Conference in Washington, DC, January 12th and 13th, 2002. You can view all of the materials from the conference on SSFI's web site at http://southsudanfriends.org/washington/

Also new on our web site, check out the reports and proposals from the ORCD (Organization for Relief and Community Development). ORCD is an indigenous NGO (non-governmental organization) working with the people of southern Sudan. They do not yet have their own web site, but SSFI believes their work should be better known. Visit http://southsudanfriends.org/ORCD/.

Finally, Macalester College will host a two-day symposium titled, "The Future of Southern Sudan: Differing Perspectives," March 1-2, 2002, at the college in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The preliminary program features Francis M. Deng, Jemera Rone, Abdullahi An-Na'im, and Donald Petterson. For details, visit http://southsudanfriends.org/News/MacalesterSymposium.html
