SSLM/A-PRESS RELEASE
EGYPTIAN-LIBYAN PEACE INITIATIVE IS A DERIALMENT TO IGAD PEACE PROCESS.
The Egyptian-Libyan Peace Initiative to end the current civil war in the Sudan is unacceptable. Our people have been struggling for Freedom and Justice for the last 46years. But all the successive regimes in Khartoum have been conspiring to deny our people's rights to self-determination.
Egypt and North Sudan are repeating the same Cairo scenario of 1953, where they excluded the leaders of South Sudan from the negotiations on the self-rule with the condominium authorities of which Egypt was a partner.
These regimes in Khartoum have been oppressing, enslaving, discriminating, eliminating and enforcing a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the South Sudanese people.
The SSLM is reminding the International Community and the people of South Sudan in particular, that all the successive regimes in Khartoum have been consistently on records violating every agreement they have reached and signed with the South. Hence the following agreements are the examples:-
Now history repeats itself, because the NIF regime of Omar El Bashir and the NDA are violating the IGAD Declaration of Principles (DOP), in favour of the so-called Egyptian-Libyan Peace Initiative. Such initiative does not recognize the inalienable rights of the people of South Sudan of self-determination. Therefore, the SSLM strongly support the IGAD peace process.
So, the SSLM takes this opportunity to appeal to the International Community to stand by it. Furthermore, the SSLM would like to encourage and expect other Southern Sudanese Movements/Organizations to clarify their positions on such initiative.
Long live the struggle for the people of South Sudan for Freedom and Justice. The struggle continues.
Majok Guandong
Spokesman & Secretary for Information & Publicity, SSLM.
