Julia Duany to speak April 10, 2000
Dear Friend of Sudan:
"From Bombs to Basketball" describes the life of SSFI founder Julia
Duany. With two of her three sons competing in this year's NCAA basketball
tournament, it's no wonder that Julia is caught up in March Madness.
There is, however, a different sort of madness that Julia is trying to stop -
the madness of war in Sudan. Julia recently returned from southern Sudan. She
traveled throughout the region-once walking thirty miles to get to a
village-listening to the concerns of the people and looking for evidence of
change.
What she saw was encouraging.
Please come to the Church of the Good Shepherd on Monday, April 10 at 7:00pm, to
hear Julia tell:
* How the people to people peace process is reuniting families and reconciling
communities
* Where the worst suffering in Sudan is taking place
* Why the Government of Sudan doesn't want the southern people to unite around
peace
* What you can do to help the people of southern Sudan rebuild their communities
